AIMA (the Australian Institute for Multicultural Affairs) started articulating a more inclusive agenda in regard to multiculturalism. By inclusive I mean inclusive of Indigenous issues, and that’s been a very problematical area for multiculturalism...

CONTINUATION OF INTERVIEW AS TEXT

At the time that I was there, Al Grassby was also a member, Eric Wilmott was also a member. I think the inclusion of both those people was very important in AIMA’s development... Having Eric Wilmott on it, who was an education expert as well as an Indigenous Australian, with a particular perspective brought to the table by him as an Indigenous Australian, was extraordinarily valuable. For me that was very much eye-opening, because I’d been fighting for that inclusivity since about 1980.
